On September 20th, the 2015 Portland Triathlon was held under the beautiful St. Johns Bridge in Cathedral Park. For nine years in a row, hundreds of athletes have flocked to compete in Portland’s only major triathlon, including our very own Dr. Movassaghi.
Movement Results In a Better Self
Dr. Movassaghi is an advocate for overall physical and mental health and wellness among the medical community. And as President of the Northwest Society of Plastic Surgeons (NWSPS), he works hard to promote a positive work-life balance as a means of avoiding physician burnout. The benefits of exercise not only affect doctors on a personal level but also supports them in the workplace—movement improves mood and boosts energy, which can improve a doctor’s ability to care for patients.
Physical fitness contributes to lower rates of depression, a more optimistic outlook, and a longer, more productive life. Dr. Movassaghi especially loves to exercise and enjoy Oregon’s beauty from a bike. By training for and participating in Oregon triathlons, Dr. Movassaghi maintains his commitment to wellness on a daily basis. He looks forward to participating in future Portland Triathlons and hopes to encourage others to try it too!
