Movassaghi Plastic Surgery & Ziba Medical Spa sponsored a team that participated in Eugene’s Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on October 21. We’re delighted to report that we exceeded our goal and as of the middle of November, we were in 3rd place overall in fundraising, having raised more than $5200. Fundraising continues until the end of November, so the final tally won’t be known until later. Thank you so much to everyone who pledged financial support to our team.
We are proud to support Komen’s efforts on the path to a cure for breast cancer. Susan G. Komen for the Cure funds research into breast cancer; supports community programs that provide education and screening for low-income women; and provides financial support for breast cancer patients.
Money raised during the Race for the Cure supports all three of these initiatives; in fact, the partnership between Komen and the state of Oregon provides the largest screening resource for uninsured women in Oregon. This partnership funds free breast cancer screenings for women who meet certain eligibility criteria. Over the past 20 years, Komen Oregon has provided more than $20 million toward education, breast cancer screening, survivor support, and transportation. We are dedicated to educating all of our patients about breast health and screening and to discussing their options for breast reconstruction surgery after cancer treatment, if necessary.
Team Movassaghi was more than 100 members strong. The day’s events were held at Autzen Stadium, and included 1-mile and 5-K walks and 5K- and 8K-runs. More than 3,300 racers participated in the fundraising walks or runs, comprising 157 different teams.
