Microdermabrasion with DiamondTome™
Microdermabrasion—an exfoliation technique that uses a very fine abrasive to remove the topmost layer of skin, leaving it supple and vibrant—is one of the most popular, chemical-free skin resurfacing treatments.
At Movassaghi Plastic Surgery & Ziba Medical Spa in Eugene, we use the DiamondTome Wand to remove your skin’s outer layer by gently exfoliating the skin with natural diamond chips. Removing this layer of skin leaves a smoother texture and promotes the growth of healthy new skin cells. After your first treatment, your skin will begin to take on a radiant, natural glow that will improve with additional sessions.
How many treatments do I need?
You’ll experience softer, smoother, clearer skin after just one session, but to receive the full benefits of this powerful treatment, we recommend patients undergo 6 to 10 treatments, depending on their skin type and their condition(s) being treated.
“From the moment I arrived for my initial consultation, I knew I was in good hands. Dr. Movassaghi and his staff are kind, helpful and informative, tailoring each treatment to my specific desired outcome with careful consideration of my skin health. Each step of the process has been explained and a detailed skin care regimen provided, including professional products, to optimize results prior to my procedures. I wish to thank them all as I am very happy with my results from facial resurfacing and microdermabrasion.”
How does microdermabrasion compare to other facial rejuvenation treatments?
Microdermabrasion is an effective alternative to laser skin resurfacing and chemical peels because it is non-invasive, non-surgical, and requires no downtime after treatment.

What is recovery like?
After your microdermabrasion treatment, you may resume normal activities immediately, but avoid any strenuous physical activities for a few days to a week. Try to refrain from going outside for the first week following your treatment, and wear a heavy SPF sunscreen if you must be exposed to the sun for an extended period of time. Our team of medical aestheticians may recommend you don’t wear makeup for 24 hours after your treatment and may prescribe a moisturizer.
What are the side effects of microdermabrasion?
After your treatment, your new layer of skin will appear pink-ish for the first 6 to 8 weeks, after which it will develop a normal color. Any side effects of microdermabrasion are typically very mild and temporary. They may include mild tenderness, swelling, and redness, and will generally go away within a few hours after treatment.
“This practice is exceptional. Very experienced, cutting edge new procedures and excellent results. The Aestheticians are so helpful in recommending good skin care products. The office staff is always friendly and makes you feel important and valued.”
